It has been about thirty years since I have been to any auto show. Why now? My good friend, Mike goes every year, and since I now have Brutus in the garage, I thought it would be a great time to see what is going on in the automotive world. This is the 53rd annual show, sponsored by autotrader.com. Ostensibly, we are here to see the 2011 models of autos and trucks in the international auto community.

I can’t wait to see and hear one of the hired models, describing a car in a breathy voice, ala’ Elaine on Seinfeld. That had to be one of the funniest scenes ever on that show. It is sometimes difficult to ascertain whether they are part of the auto show or Frederick’s of Hollywood models. I wonder how many people actually buy a car based on what they see here at the show. Cars have come a long way since my last show. Along with superior design and features, the safety factor has increased ten fold.
So, Mike is looking at the new Aston Martin, and I am looking at the Lamborghinis and McLaren
s. Both of us will get shot and crucified if we come home with anything, even a broken down old Chevy or Ford. Maybe a T shirt or a model car? Actually, Benz was conspicuously absent from this year’s show. The show stealer was the Corvette Stingray concept car. It is sure to be in production soon, and will be a BIG hit!
