ApCal Winery is located in Madera, just of Highway 7 and Highway 99, one exit north of Herndon. They have been successful in building a reputation for good music, paired with their wines, and visiting food trucks. They have over 50 (depending on what you believe) locally produced wines available for tasting. Visitors are encouraged to bring a lawn chair, as well as their dog (pet friendly).
ApCal is short for Appellation California. An appellation is required by law to declare where the grapes are grown. No less than 85% of the grapes in the bottle must come from the listed appellation. And while the San Joaquin Valley appellation may not be as famous as Napa or Sonoma, the wines have been winning awards across the state.
