I think I covered this before on one of my “Twelve Days of Christmas” series of emails. But, perhaps with Covid, we should revisit your needs when traveling afar.
Here is a basic list from Travel and Leisure:
- Hand sanitizer (lots of it)
- Hydrocortisone cream, for rashes and bug bites
- Pain and fever reducer, such as Tylenol, Aspirin or Advil
- Bandages
- Antihistamines (diphenhydramine preferred) for allergic reactions
- Tweezers
- Small scissors
- Medical tape
- Alcohol wipes
- Gauze pads
Here are my additions:
Treatment for diarrhea (diphenoxylate on Rx, or Imodium)
Topical analgesic (diclofenac)
Motion sickness (meclizine)
Acid blocker (omeprazole for your drastic change in diet)
Artificial tears
Nail clippers
Large bandana (use as a tourniquet or sling)
Sunscreen
Lip balm
Double antibiotic cream (avoid triple with neomycin)
Moisturizer (in honor of George Costanza)
Corkscrew (optional but not for me)
Needle and thread (for buttons or suture)
Matches (to sterilize needle or tweezers)
Mints (for dry mouth)
Ear plugs
Always carry WATER!!!
