After two trips out of state by air, I observed many pre and post pandemic rules and suggestions.
Everybody wore masks on the plane. No exceptions!
Everyone in coach received a small bottle of water, small bag of pretzels, and a hand wipe in a plastic bag.

In first, we could order alcohol (I did not), and received a cheese and fruit snack tray (quite good) or a deli sandwich.
Most retail stores and restaurants were open, both in airport and at my destination. But some were closed.
Restaurants in AZ did not use social distancing, while Washington DC was quite strict.
Hotels seemed more relaxed with the rules than restaurants and airplanes.
Hotels had me sign an agreement that my room would NOT be cleaned or serviced during my stay.

Rental car situation was normal. Who knows how well they clean the cars between rentals?
City buses and Metro were not crowded. Most buses waived the $2 fee to avoid stepping near the driver. We had to board at the rear of the bus!
Coffee was served in paper cups, with free refills, using a new cup each time.
Most of my favorite places in AZ and DC were open for business.
Hand sanitizer is ubiquitous!
Most events, like ballgames, require the purchase of either two or four tickets only!
Cash is no longer king!
Some businesses, mostly retail, still have shorter hours.
Museums and indoor concert venues remain closed.
The bike and scooter rental business is booming!
My advice:
Always weigh risk versus reward.
Make sure enough venues and restaurants are open at your destination.
Wear your mask, carry hand sanitizer, and socially distance!
Get vaccinated before you go.
Avoid hotspots, like India, Brazil, China, Texas, and Florida.
Plan your trips carefully!
