We all have a routine, almost a ritual in the morning when we start our day. Mine starts with a large cup, or two of Peet’s French Roast coffee. Some of you start with tea, and even a few misguided souls start with a cola product or orange juice. I even add a few teaspoons of Kauai Coffee, flavored, of course. My current favorite is Kauai Coconut Caramel.
What I am suggesting today is to move out of your comfort zone. Try something other than Starbucks! Peet’s and other coffees are interesting and tasty alternatives. I started with Peet’s Coffee back in the 70s. Their first store in Berkeley was one of my favorite stops. The long-time followers of Peet’s Coffee are called Peetniks!!! I have been a Peetnik since the early 70s. I have tried the competition, illy, Blue Bottle, Dutch Bros, Seattle’s Best, even the stuff crapped out by a civet, called Kopi Lewak!

Whether you are a coffee, tea, or “other” person, please try something new, and expand your morning routine. The morning beverage is such an important part of our mornings. Add a slice of toast, along with the morning paper or the news on TV, and the morning is just about perfect. I even take it on the road with me, all over the world!
My tea drinking friends are true believers too. I have enjoyed trying their favorites as well. My favorite so far is the matcha tea, or as a smoothie. But I love many of the Asian and European teas as well.

Take it from me, I have tried coffee all over the world. It is an interesting way to start the morning, whether made with a tube sock in Laos, or a fancy French press in Bordeaux. Whatever, you do, just try something new!!!
